This unit is absolutely not the perfect unit out there, but for the price range that it is in, it is difficult to beat. It has amazing clarity in the display. I've utilised a lot of units, and just like each and every 1, if you get the settings and transducer setup properly, it functions amazing. Consumer Critiques

The color combo GPS/Sounder is okay but could be better. There was no user booklet in the box. I downloaded 1 and printed it but it was tough to read so I requested one particular from Lowrance. It is modest, not very descriptive and covers a multitude of unique units which makes it hard to know. I got the implication that there was no surface temperature built in to the transducer considering the fact that the installation leaflet shows an optional temperature sensor which plugs in to a second input in the unit. The DSI provides a especially clear picture but I do not know what to think and what is mystery. There is in fact temp buitl in to the transducer and it does display. The transducer is rather completely different than any I have ever observed. It is lengthy and spindlly and does not look rather robust should really it be hit from the side. I would of gave this 4 and half if I could but I rounded it up.
It a uncomplicated to use fishfinder that functions. The screen is straightforward to read in any light period....
Its got a tilt screen that moves simply and rotates in practically any path.
I mounted the included transducer by epoxying it to my hull I do not like drilling or attaching any hardware to the outside of my boat simply because its just cleaner not to and I do not have to be concerned about it breaking off or receiving bumped out of position. The transducer worked wonderful the only negative factor is I do not get water temps due to the fact its epoxied to my hull. But if that bothers you can mount it outside of hull or buy the speed and temp gauge add on. I would do the latter personally.
I use this finder even though I am driving my boat It does a fantastic job at letting me know whats going on beneath my boat from slow to moderate rapid. I like having dual beams one for searching the area and when your jigging take it down to the narrow beam.
I had no difficulty with controls or understanding its usage. Just remember if your in a lake that is much less than 125 feet deep set it to shallow water and fine tune it, or set it to auto, its set it and forget it unit that operates very good. If you are like me you can fine adjust it to every single water you go to. It has no problem clearing up the already very good image from the auto setting.
I will in no way spend huge dollars on a unit that will be way less costly in a year or two.
For beneath 200 bucks you will not do any better you could only do worse.

If your in the sun the screen is absolutely unreadable just terrible.
invest even more and get something that is beneficial.

installed this on my kayak and only use it in saltwater. does well in open water shows shapes of bottom structure, even kelp stringers. the gray line feature isn't the miracle they make it out to be, it's extremely unclear no matter whether or not it's difficult or soft surfaces there is to substantially mixture of black and gray on the screen in layers. programming is ok in default mode but bring the instruction manual if u want to dial it in. otherwise just in shapes alone you can locate fish structure and habitat, very good for the cost for certain.

I ordered it for my Husband's birthday. It came correct away. Now if I can just get him to install it...

Client Evaluations

The unit arrived in decent condition. My problem is that the instruction manual, for me, is incredibly poorly written. This is my 1st fish finder and I have played with it for hours and can not seem to get it set right. For somebody who is skilled with these devices the manual could possibly be ok. The manual doesn,t explain the settings or how to use them.

I purchased this item given that I was told that it applied the similar transducer, cable, and plug as the FishMark 480 that I had that died. Nicely, the plug fit but that is about all. Would not operate with the old transducer, but it tested just fine with the a single included in the new package. Looks like it'll all function properly when I get the new transducer installed.
